Banks man jailed on homicide charges

A 25-year-old Banks Township man who police said fired a shotgun through the wall of his row home on Berwick Street, killing his next-door neighbor, has been charged by state police at the Hazleton barracks with homicide.

Dylan Eroh had criminal charges filed against him before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Homanko and is currently being held in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, having been denied bail.

He is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, discharging firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said the incident happened on Jan. 23. The 69-year-old neighbor, whose name police did not release, was struck by the gunfire and succumbed to his injuries, police said.

They said the shooting has been determined to be an “isolated incident.”
