Woman charged with using gun to threaten neighbors

A Lansford woman was jailed after threatening neighbors with a handgun over a parking spot.

Jean Hill, 66, of East Abbott Street, was arraigned Monday on charges of terroristic threats, possession of instruments of crime, simple assault and harassment, and committed to the Carbon County prison, Nesquehoning, in lieu of $10,000 bail.

According to court papers, a neighbor told police that Hill was upset about her parking in front of her residence, and came banging on her door on Saturday in the middle of the day.

The woman looked out the window and saw Hill banging on the door with what she described as a black pistol, and Hill was screaming at her to open the door and move her car now, court papers said.

The woman told police that she was scared and told her children to go into another room, believing Hill could use the gun.

Police asked why she didn’t immediately report the incident, and the woman explained that Hill had threatened another neighbor and nothing was done.

Officers questioned the other neighbor who told them that Hill did show a “little black handgun” in a previous incident, and had made multiple threats toward her, court papers said.

The neighbor also witnessed Hill banging on the other neighbor’s door the previous day or two, she said.

Lansford police executed a search warrant on Hill’s residence and provided Hill with the paperwork. Hill told police that she had no firearms in the house and never had any handguns in the house, court papers said.

Police found a black 9 mm High Point pistol firearm in an entertainment cabinet in the front living room, and two bullets inside the barrel, causing a double feed inside, court papers said.

Officers also found a brown shotgun in a bedroom closet and a blue jar of .380-caliber ammunition on the kitchen table, court papers said.

Police seized the items, and took Hill in to custody.
