February 10, 1977 — Tamaqua uses three consecutive pins in the upper middleweights to help gain a 38-18 victory over Jim Thorpe. Leading by an 18-11 score, the Blue Raiders receive falls from Don Becker at 141, Pete Orphanos at 148 and Mike Keip at 158 to clinch the win. All three of the pins come during the second period. Tamaqua also gets falls from Ken Valentine (122) and Todd Heisler (188), while Evan Willing (101) and Randy McHugh (108) contribute decision wins. For the Olympians, Farley Foster registers a pin at 135.
