A jury in Monroe County recently found a contractor guilty of a felony.

The case against Jon C. Clark of Tobyhanna was brought by Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Anderson.

At his trial, the jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Clark guilty of theft by deception.

He took several thousand dollars from an out-of-state homeowner, claiming that he would do various home improvement tasks. After receiving the money, Clark misled the victim by claiming that the work was being done when it was not.

The homeowner, who resides in New Jersey, testified that she trusted Clark and relied on his representations about the status of the work.

Clark will be sentenced in early April.
