Lanes of Interstate 81 in Delano Township were shut down for several hours after a crash at 9:22 p.m. Feb. 4, according to state police at the Frackville barracks.

Police said Moises E. Membreno Umana, 34, of Thomasville, North Carolina, was driving a 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer southbound near mile marker 135.9 when he lost control of it.

The rig struck a cement barrier, traveled back onto the southbound lane and jackknifed, hitting the barrier again.

Police said the entire load the rig was hauling was scattered onto the left southbound shoulder of the highway.

The rig had to be towed from the scene.

Membreno Umana, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, police said.
