Tamaqua Senior

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Jan. 30 with 27 members present.

The president opened the meeting and a member read the invocation, “How Could I Ask for More?” Dues are $10 yearly.

The group welcomed back members who were sick. A moment of silence was held for the victims of the plane crash in Washington, D.C.

The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.

Today’s meeting has been canceled due to inclement weather.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim Leskovich will bring a message of the Love of Jesus Christ as preparation for Valentine’s Day during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service.

Cans of soup will be collected at the Sunday service and will be shared with the local community food bank.

A prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday and is open to all.

Diaper ministry

Diaper Depot, the free diaper ministry at Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua, is accepting new clients for the Feb. 15 free diaper distribution.

Clients must live in the Tamaqua Area School District.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have the installation of the church board and a Joyous Noise offering. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.

The deadline for the March newsletter is Tuesday. Retirees meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday. On Feb. 13, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m., followed by the Senior Choir at 7 p.m.

Soup delivery will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 from the social hall.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
