Injuries were averted in a two-vehicle collision at 2:41 p.m. Jan. 30 at the intersection of Route 309 and Mountain Road in Lynn Township, according to state police at the Fogelsville barracks.
Police said the crash occurred when a 2018 Honda driven southbound on Mountain Road by James M. Morris, 64, of Palmerton, entered the intersection with Route 309 directly in front of a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis operated by Bernadette L. Rodrigues, 51, of Tamaqua, which was traveling south, causing the collision.
Following the impact, the Honda rotated counterclockwise and left the road, hitting small trees and shrubs.
In addition to the drivers, Sherry L. Newman, 59, of Palmerton, a passenger with Morris, and Nathan Rodrigues, 19, of Lehighton, a passenger in the Mercury, also escaped injuries.
Police said that Morris was cited after the collision.
