Schuylkill County Conservancy

The Schuylkill County Conservancy announces the following activities:

Creativity, nature walk

The Schuylkill County Sketchers will meet from 10-11 a.m. Feb. 15 at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park’s clubhouse parking lot in Pine Grove.

Audrey Wells, naturalist with the Schuylkill County Conservancy, will instruct the walk and encourage participants to see the world intensely.

This is not a workshop but a walk with like-minded people who enjoy nature and creativity. Bring something to draw on and draw with. No art experience is necessary; learn as you observe nature and get some drawing and art tips along the way. The event is free and for all ages.

Help with woodlands

Are you at a loss for caring for your woodlands? Are you planning a timber sale and need help? Do you need help identifying your trees? Are your trees dying and you want to know what is killing them?

Questions will be answered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Schuylkill County Agricultural Center, 1104 Ag Center Drive, Pottsville.

The event is sponsored by the Woodland Stewards of Schuylkill County, a committee of the Schuylkill County Conservancy that has a mission of empowering forest owners through knowledge and personal involvement.

Learn to ID trees, shrubs

“This Bud is for You” will be held from 10-11 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Frog Hollow parking area on Stone Mountain Road outside of Friedensburg.

Can you identify trees and shrubs in the winter just by looking at their buds and bark? Service forester Will Thomas will lead a walk through Frog Hollow to teach you the skill.

Trails can be a little rough and wet, so participants should wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.
