February 3, 1990 — Palmerton’s gymnastics team captures the Northeastern Pennsylvania League championship at Stroudsburg. The Blue Bombers, coached by Tom Wargo, compile a team score of 130.05 to hold off runner-up Pocono Mountain during the nine-team event. Blue Bomber sophomore Nicki Heath takes the gold medal in the advanced all-around with a total score of 36.45, which includes an 8.7 on vault, 9.3 on bars, 9.0 on beam and 9.45 on floor. Palmerton senior intermediate Kristyn Mizack receives four specialist medals for her 32.95 points, including an 8.9 on bars.
