Carbon foundation accepting scholarship applications
The Carbon County Community Foundation announces that applications for its 2025 grant and scholarship programs are now open. Local nonprofits, scouting groups, early childhood educators, and graduating high school seniors are encouraged to apply for available funding opportunities.
The Community Foundation is accepting applications from community organizations for grants from the following funds:
• Fund for Carbon County — providing strategic grants to support to nonprofit and community organizations addressing a variety of programs across Carbon County.
• Penny Allison Early Childhood Fund — providing grants in memory of Penny Allison to support early learning programs, school readiness initiatives, and enrichment opportunities for young children (PreK — 3rd grade) in Carbon County.
• Scouting Support Fund — providing grants to local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops for projects, camps costs, facility upgrades, and equipment needs.
Applications and eligibility details for each granting fund can be found on the Foundation’s website at www.cccfoundpa.org. The Foundation hosted a virtual information session for interested applicants on Jan. 29.
The session was recorded and can be viewed on the Foundation website. Those with additional questions are encouraged to contact the Community Foundation directly. Grant applications should be submitted online by March 31.
Additionally, the Community Foundation hosts more than a dozen scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Carbon County.
Some scholarships are specific to particular school districts in the county, while others are available to all students in the region.
The scholarships are designed to support students who are pursuing higher education, whether at a university, college, or trade school. Award amounts range from $500 to $8,000.
Area students are encouraged to explore the full list of available opportunities and eligibility requirements on the Foundation website. Scholarship applications are due by March 1.
“We are honored to provide these funding opportunities to nonprofits, educators, and students in Carbon County,” said Sharon Alexander, president of CCCF. “Through the generosity of donors who have established funds with the Foundation, we are able to support the needs of our community and invest in its future.”
Last year, the Carbon County Community Foundation celebrated a significant milestone, surpassing $1 million in total grants and scholarships distributed into the community since its founding in 2015.
“We are so proud to have reached $1 million in grants distributed last year, an achievement that truly reflects our continued commitment to strengthening our community through charitable giving,” said Alexander. “We are grateful to our circle of fundholders and to the countless donors who helped each of these charitable funds grow under our Foundation umbrella so we can keep awarding grants and scholarships in the community.”
The Carbon County Community Foundation invites individuals, families, and organizations to join in the spirit of charitable giving by establishing their own fund at the Foundation.
Creating a personalized fund allows donors to make a lasting impact on the community by supporting grants, scholarships, and programs that align with their values and interests.
