Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 30
Despite being swept by North Schuylkill on Thursday, Marian’s swim team did make some news in the pool.
Both Michael and Lydia Strucko set new Spartan pool records.
SWIMMING
Marian-N. Schuylkill
Marian’s Lydia and Michael Strucko both set pool records at North Schuylkill, but the Spartans gained a sweep in Schuylkill League action.
Lydia posted a time of 2:02.32 in the 200 freestyle to rewrite the record books, while Michael’s clocking of 2:02.97 in the 200 IM set a new standard. Lydia also won the 100 backstroke, and Michael touched first in the 100 butterfly.
Gavin Mentzer had two individual firsts for North Schuylkill in the boys meet to help his team post a 102-48 victory. Genevieve Salefski had a pair of wins for the Spartan girls, who captured a 100-58 decision.
The Colts also received two firsts from Andrew Metters in the 50 free and 100 backstroke.

Stroudsburg pushed its winning streak to nine games, as the Mounties cruised to a 74-24 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.
McKayla Strunk poured in 19 of her game-high 21 points before halftime, as the Mounties entered the locker room with a commanding 54-15 lead.
Teagan Strunk added 20 points for the winners, while Adriana Borzio contributed 16.
The Bears received a team-high 13 points from Amaya Fuentes.

Tri-Valley ended a four-game losing skid, as the Bulldogs pulled away from Weatherly for a 31-17 Schuylkill League win.
Avery Miller poured in six of her game-high 16 points in the second quarter, as the Bulldogs took a 21-11 halftime lead, while Faith Artz chipped in with nine.
Kelly Reiner netted a team-high 11 points for the Wreckers.
