The Tamaqua Rotary Club has taken on a large public works project in underwriting the material cost of rehabilitation of the wading pool at the Howard D. Buehler Memorial Park in that community.

The pool was closed by order of the PA Department of Environmental Resources when an inspection showed the recycled water was not being filtered.

Borough manager Donald Matalavage said the cost of installing a filtration system there, including an engineering study, is about $5,000.

The club plans to host a basketball tournament and gold outing to raise the funds, Rotary President Chester A. Hoffman said.
