MONROE CRASHES
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:46 p.m. Jan. 26 on Milford Road in Smithfield Township.
Police said the crash involved vehicles driven by Harry J. Pierce III, 67, of East Stroudsburg, and Devon ED. Driggers, 25, of East Stroudsburg, who had Justin J. Berridge, 22, of Saylorsburg, as his passenger.
No further details of the crash were provided by police.
• Thomas A. Florio, 75, of East Stroudsburg, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:04 a.m. Jan. 24 on Route 611 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the extent of his injuries is unknown. He was transported by personnel from the Regional EMS and Critical Care corps to St. Luke’s Hospital, Pocono, Stroudsburg.
Police said the crash involved a 2022 Toyota Camry driven by Ewa Drozdz, 60, of Albrightsville, and a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Florio.
They did not provide details of the crash but said Drozdz was cited for “traffic control signals” after the incident. She was uninjured.
• Douglas J. Haines, 24, of Gilbert, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 2:04 p.m. Jan. 21 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township, police said. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Honda Civic that drifted onto the shoulder of the road and struck ice, casing him to lose control of the car. It drove across both lanes of traffic, went off the roadway, hit an embankment and rolled onto its roof.
The car was towed from the scene.
• Begush Neziri, 45, of Summit Hill, was uninjured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:56 a.m. Jan. 19 on Meadowside Road in Paradise Township.
Police said he was driving a 2021 Volkswagen Passat eastbound and was negotiating a left curve in the road when it encountered ice conditions, slid off the road and struck a 2012 Kia Optima that was disabled from a crash due to the same icy conditions.
Police said the Passat had to be towed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:04 a.m. Jan. 17 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Brian C. Vaughn, 49, of Cream Ridge, New Jersey, was driving a 2022 Freightliner whose doors were accidentally left opened, resulting in packages of insulation falling out of the trailer onto the roadway. They said a 2023 Honda driven by Riley W. Gaita, 24, of Henryville, which was merging onto the lane of travel, struck the unsecured load in the roadway.
Police said both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:49 p.m. Jan. 13 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Serenity A. Nixon, 19, of Piscataway, New Jersey, was driving a 2007 Lexus northbound and attempted to merge in front of a 2022 Volvo operated northbound by Robert J. Robinson, 54, of Berkshire, New York, sideswiping it.
Police said the Lexus sustained disabling damage while the Volvo had minor damages.
They said Nixon was cited after the crash
• Rachel L. Layng, 36, of Saylorsburg, and Paul A. Brennan, 67, of Gilbert, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:06 a.m. Jan. 6 on the Neola Road in Hamilton Township.
Police said the severity of their injuries in unknown. They said the transported by personnel from St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to St. Luke’s Hospital, Pocono, Stroudsburg.
Police said he crash occurred when Layng, driving a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound, was unable to stop due to snow and the vehicle slid onto Route 209, striking a 2006 Dodge Dakota driven by Brennan.
Police said Lyng was 26 weeks pregnant at the time of the crash.
They said Brennan fled the scene after the crash and was located after the Dakota hit a mailbox on Neola Road. Police said he had a large laceration on his head.
Police said Brennan was charged with driving a vehicle while his operating privileges are suspended or revoked.
• Casey Horan, 40, of Saylorsburg, was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash at 8:01 p.m. Nov. 20 on Rote 115 in Hamilton Township.
Police said she had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital for medical attention.
Police said through their investigation it was determined she was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, for which she was charged.
They said the crash included a 2012 Subaru Outback and a 2014 Chevrolet and identified victims in the incident as PennDOT, Stroudsburg, and Patricia Kleintop, 70, of Saylorsburg.
