Lehighton’s Cole Dietz and Northern Lehigh’s Tegan Simms each scored over 30 points as their teams picked up victories on Wednesday night.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Northwestern-Jim Thorpe

Northwestern used a 25-4 second quarter to pull away from Jim Thorpe and win 68-32 in Colonial League play.

Three Tigers finished in double figures, including Gavin Nelson with a team-high 15 points, Eli Zimmerman with 14, and Shane Marth with 13.

Pierce Gothard led the Olympians in scoring with 11 points.

Dietz shot the lights out with nine three-pointers, while Joe Roth also added 21 points for the Indians.

Kellen Bauer led the Bulldogs with 18 points.

Ten different players scored as Northwestern rolled to a 74-21 Colonial League win over visiting Jim Thorpe.

Cara Thomas led a fearsome Tigers’ foursome in double figures with a game-high 15 points, while Brook Balliet followed right behind with 13 points.

Teammates Natalie Conner and Paige Bissell ended up with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Brooklyn Yuhas finished with an Olympians’ high, as she recorded eight points.

Northern Lehigh turned back a second-half surge by Lehighton to claim a 68-66 Colonial League win.

Tegan Simms hit five 3s and scored a game-high 32 points for the Bulldogs, while Katelynn Barthold added 23.

Emma Repsher scored 21 points for the Indians, who outscored the visitors 42-33 in the second half and trailed 21-9 at the end of the first quarter. Ryleigh Trotman added 17 points, and Morgan Costenbader hit three treys and scored 11.

After two early forfeits, Tamaqua swept the remaining matches en route to a 64-12 non-league win over Executive Education.

The Raiders picked up four pins from Levi Kunkel (121), Brody Schlier (133), Francis Hill (145), and William Behun (285) who only took 47 seconds.

Aiden Schlier (127) and Brody Boyce (139) also earned technical falls for the Raiders.
