Lehighton residents who care about the character of the borough are urged to join an advisory committee.

The borough is in search of residents to fill vacancies on the Parks & Recreation Board.

Letters of interest are being accepted until noon Friday.

Letters of interest may be dropped off at borough hall or mailed to Lehighton Borough Council, 1 Constitution Ave., P.O. Box 29, Lehighton, PA 18235.

The Parks & Recreation Board is an advisory committee to borough council whose main goal is to provide advice and recommendations on the maintenance, beauty, and character of borough public spaces.

The board assists in providing access to natural spaces, fundraisers for park equipment and facilities, volunteers with other community groups, sponsors recreational events, and submits annual reports to borough council.

The borough has several vacancies on its parks & recreation committee after it accepted resignation letters from Autumn Abelovsky, Carol Ritter, and Richard Zimmerman earlier this month.
