The Summit Hill Borough Council voted 4-0 to approve demolition of the town’s existing municipal building in anticipation of the construction of a new borough hall and firehouse.
Councilmen Joseph Weber, John O’Gurek, Kenneth Boyd and David Wargo voted to raze the former St. Joseph School building that houses the borough offices, the firehouse and water authority office, then to erect a replacement building at the site.
The council members agreed with the volunteer firemen’s idea that keeping the fire company in the center of town would be feasible.
They later moved to build the fire company hall and a community center on Ludlow Street and borough offices on Amidon Street.
