Man shoots through wall, kills neighbor

State Police at Hazleton arrested a man they say fired a gunshot through the wall of his Banks Township row home, which struck and killed his next door neighbor.

Police said Dylan Eroh, 25, was arraigned Friday on criminal homicide charges and sent to the Carbon County Correctional Facility after his bail was denied.

According to police, troopers from the Criminal Investigation Unit in Hazleton and members of the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office were called to Berwick Street near Beaver Meadows for a report of a deceased 69-year-old man. An investigation revealed that Eroh fired the shot on Thursday, police said. It penetrated the wall and struck and killed the man.

The coroner’s office said Gerald Pogzeba was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. The death was ruled a homicide.

Police also filed charges of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and reckless endangerment against Eroh.
