A Franklin Township official proposed a contracted police services agreement between the township and Lehighton Borough be taken under advisement.

Supervisor Rod Green, chairman of the township’s board of supervisors, told Lehighton officials he believes the concept would be a “win-win for both Franklin and Lehighton,” suggesting the two municipalities merge police departments.

Lehighton Council President Grant Hunsicker told Green council would take his remarks under advisement. Prior to Green’s suggestion, Lehighton officials had met with officials in Franklin and Mahoning townships to discuss the matter, after which time the council passed a motion to continue researching the possibility of a partnership between all three.
