Tamaqua police: Man posed as FBI agent

Tamaqua police said they charged a Georgia man with impersonating a public servant after he claimed he was an FBI agent while at a borough business.

Gemini “G-Money” Lake, 51, of Decatur, was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $20,000 cash bail on the charge and an active warrant, police said.

According to police, officers were called to Advance Auto on Center Street at 3:20 p.m. Jan. 19 for a report of a suspicious incident.

An employee said a man — later identified as Lake — was in the store, claiming to be an FBI agent and threatening to handcuff him.

The employee said Lake was still in the store, and had come in demanding that his battery be repaired. The employee told Lake he could not do it because of a technicality about professional service.

The employee told police that Lake became irate and flashed a badge, yelling that he was a federal agent. Lake threatened that he would handcuff the employee but the employee said he did not care who Lake was, and that he should leave the store.

Officers spoke to Lake and found an identification that said “International Bounty Hunter Union.” Officers then retrieved Lake’s driver’s license, and when they ran the information, learned that he was wanted on a warrant.

Police found that Lake was charged with impersonating a public servant by in the Pocono Mountain Regional jurisdiction in October.

He was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reilly.
