Facts about ‘Crystal’

Here are some fun facts about Cirque Du Soleil’s “Crystal,” Jan. 30 - Feb. 2, PPL Center, Allentown:

• “Crystal” is Cirque du Soleil’s 42nd creation and the company’s very first acrobatic experience on ice.

• Since its inception, “Crystal” has gone to more than 145 cities and 23 different nations (and counting).

• “Crystal” has been seen by more than 2 million since its premiere in 2017.

• “Crystal” celebrated show No. 1,000 in Perth, Australia, in September 2023.

• The one-of-a-kind performance features seven traditional circus acts, including trapeze, hand-to-hand, Banquine, aerial straps, hand-to-trapeze, juggling and hand-balancing, adapted to be performed on ice.

• It takes 18 transport trailers, each 55 feet in length, to transfer “Crystal” from city to city.

• The entire show packs up into more than 434 road cases, 160 racks and a few dozen other varieties of packing containers.

• The show uses 28 projectors to transform the ice into a playground, hockey rink, outdoor pond and cityscape, among other scenes. The show uses 36 trackers on costumes that control spotlights that follow the artists on the ice.

• “Crystal” is the first Cirque du Soleil production that uses real snow. The show’s crew makes approximately 300 snowballs each week.
