Three donation requests were approved and one other was denied when the Penn Forest Township board of supervisors met this month.
The supervisors agreed to make a $10,000 donation to the Penn-Kidder Library and $2,500 donations each to the Olympian Booster Club and the Jim Thorpe Youth Soccer program.
A request for a grant by Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania was denied.
Meanwhile, in new business, the supervisors:
• Hired Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC to examine all township financial accounts for 2024.
• Hired Jay York to be the township’s code enforcement officer.
• Purchase of plow pistons from West End Equipment at a cost of $743.95 was approved.
• Received notarized lists for volunteer credit and free garbage permit applications from the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and No. 2.
• Announced a public hearing is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 3 for the intermunicipal transfer of a liquor license from 632 Route 940 to 1295 Route 534.
• Approved exemptions for Beltzville Lake Estates for 2025 garbage fees.
• Renewed membership with the International Codes Council for three years at a cost of $405, which the supervisors said represents a savings of $105 over the length of the contract.
• Received one Right to Know administrative and financial request, and four zoning and septic requests, totaling 35.75 hours.
