Penn Forest approves donation requests

Three donation requests were approved and one other was denied when the Penn Forest Township board of supervisors met this month.

The supervisors agreed to make a $10,000 donation to the Penn-Kidder Library and $2,500 donations each to the Olympian Booster Club and the Jim Thorpe Youth Soccer program.

A request for a grant by Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania was denied.

Meanwhile, in new business, the supervisors:

• Hired Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC to examine all township financial accounts for 2024.

• Hired Jay York to be the township’s code enforcement officer.

• Purchase of plow pistons from West End Equipment at a cost of $743.95 was approved.

• Received notarized lists for volunteer credit and free garbage permit applications from the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and No. 2.

• Announced a public hearing is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 3 for the intermunicipal transfer of a liquor license from 632 Route 940 to 1295 Route 534.

• Approved exemptions for Beltzville Lake Estates for 2025 garbage fees.

• Renewed membership with the International Codes Council for three years at a cost of $405, which the supervisors said represents a savings of $105 over the length of the contract.

• Received one Right to Know administrative and financial request, and four zoning and septic requests, totaling 35.75 hours.
