Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 13

Northwestern rolled to victories over Palisades in both boys and girls action on Monday.

Jim Thorpe, Marian and Northern Lehigh also picked up wins in girls action, while the Pleasant Valley boys also triumphed.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Northwestern-Palisades

Northwestern dominated the first half and quickly pulled away from Palisades to take home a 73-40 win in Colonial League play.

Gavin Nelson led the Tigers, who have won five games in a row, with 26 points while Eli Zimmerman chipped in with 13.

Blake Oglialoro led the Pirates with 14 points.

Pleasant Valley evened its record with a convincing 61-29 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg South.

Zach Prator poured in a game-high 24 points for the Bears, who outscored the Cavaliers in every quarter.

The winners also received 17 points from JJ More, while Sebastian Sacci chipped in with 11.

For ES South, Messiah Bowman registered a team-high eight points.

In a tight back-and-forth matchup, it was a 22-14 third quarter for Southern Lehigh that made the difference as it edged Northern Lehigh 58-56 in Colonial League action.

The Spartans had three players finish in double figures, with Joseph Plessl scoring a team-high 19 points, Michael Fry tallying 15, and Wyatt Adams adding 13.

Kellen Bauer shined for the Bulldogs as he put up 28 points, including a 14-for-15 performance at the free-throw line, in a losing effort. Nolehi also received 10 points from Connor Simms.

Saucon Valley used a strong second half to erase a halftime deficit and gain a 45-40 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Jack Robertson scored a game-high 30 points for the Panthers, who trailed the Olympians by seven points at the break.

Thorpe received a team-high 12 points from Pierce Gothard, while Aaron Curran added nine.

Frankie Pujols lead the Rough Riders with 20 points, while Reece Lopez added 16 and Hamaad Jenkins contributed 15.

The Indians, who saw their nine-game winning streak snapped, received a team-high 14 points from Joe Roth. Cole Dietz chipped in with nine.

Joe Roth lead all Indian scorers with 14 points.

Jim Thorpe puts an end to a two-game losing streak, as the Olympians knocked off Saucon Valley for a 35-25 Colonial League win.

Ryah Confer was the lone Olympian in double figures, as she posted a game-high 16 points. Teammate Avery Balliet added eight.

Brooke Davis posted a Panthers’ high with 15 points.

Katelynn Barthold and Tegan Simms were too much for Southern Lehigh, as the duo sparked the Bulldogs to a 74-31 victory in Colonial League action.

Katelyn Barthold netted 13 of her game-high 28 points in the opening quarter, as the Bulldogs jumped out to an early 25-8 lead.

Tegan Simms contributed 26 points for the winners, while Dekota Barthold ended up with 12.

Piper Gluck posted a team-high eight points for the Spartans.

Natalie Conner posted 11 of her 15 points in the first two quarters, while Olivia Reinhart tallied 11 of her 15 points in the second half.

Brooklyn Lucas finished with six points to pace the Pirates.
