State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:41 p.m. Jan. 5 at the intersection of Mount Eaton and Upper Smith Gap roads in Ross Township.
Police said the crash occurred when a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Rodel M. Sunga, 46, of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, proceeded without clearance into the intersection and was struck by a 2019 Infiniti operated by Kelsey L. Deluise, 32, of Easton, who was westbound on Mount Eaton Roda.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Sunga was cited after the crash, police said.
• A 17-year-old girl from Lehighton was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 12:48 p.m. Dec. 20 on Mauch Chunk Street in Mahoning Township.
She and a passenger, Madison R. Kattner, 18, of New Ringgold, were uninjured in the incident.
Police said the girl was driving a 2019 Jeep Renegade northbound when she could not stop in time for slowed traffic. The Renegade hit a rock wall off the right shoulder of the road, resulting in damage that required it to be towed from the scene.
• Christyann Paparozzi, 34, of Albrightsville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:49 a.m. Jan. 11 on Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township.
Police said she was driving a 2017 GMC Terrain downhill and was approaching the intersection of Forest Inn and Boyer’s Farm roads when the vehicle struck the guide rail. It had to be towed from the scene.
Police said Paparozzi was issued a warning for failure to drive at a safe speed.
• Two vehicles had minor damages in a crash at 5:34 p.m. Dec. 27 in the parking lot of Mountain Trail Drive, Lower Towamensing Township.
Police said it involved a 2022 Ford Bronco, whose driver was not identified, and a 2016 Toyota Tacoma that was parked in the lot. Police said the driver of the Bronco reported the vehicle slid on a patch of ice and struck the Tacoma.
• Three other vehicles were damaged in a similar incident at the same location that happened at 4:06 p.m. Dec. 27.
Police said a 2023 GMC Acadia slid on ice in the lot and struck a parked 2021 Toyota Highlander before continuing to strike a 20211 Mercedes-Benz in the rear.
Police said the drivers of the Acadia and Mercedes were uninjured.
All three vehicles had minor damages, police said.
