State police at Hazleton - crashes

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Gage A. Standeford, 25, of Weatherly, was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle crash at 3:19 p.m. Jan. 1 on Interstate 81 in Butler Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Honda Accord that struck the rear of a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Ahmed A. Ali, 46, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

• Julio C. Jimenez, 67, of Hazleton, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:31 a.m. Dec. 31 on Banks Avenue in Banks Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. They said the severity of his injuries is unknown.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Ford Focus that turned left onto Banks Avenue from Tresckow Road and struck a 2023 BMW driven by Lee Glassberg, 75, of Drums.

Police said both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Jimenez was cited after the crash, police said.

• Stephen K. Terry, 28, of Lansford, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:44 a.m. Dec. 28 on Hudson Drive, Banks Township.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Subaru Legacy east when he lost control of the vehicle due to icy conditions. The vehicle slid across the oncoming lane and off the roadway, hitting a road sign. The Legacy was towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:32 p.m. Jan. 4 on South Chestnut Street in Banks Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Christian L. Kantner, 23, of Berwick, driving a 1999 Dodge Ram truck, struck a parked 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 owned by Isaac R. Ferrera, 40, of Tresckow.

Police said Kantner left the scene but was contacted by police and cited for careless driving.
