Northwestern’s Cara Thomas became the all-time leading girls scorer in school history during a win over Pen Argyl on Thursday.
Elsewhere, the Tiger and Lehighton boys also won to clinch district playoff berths.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Northwestern-Pen Argyl
Northwestern used a 33-9 second quarter to pull away from Pen Argyl and take home a 72-33 win in Colonial League play.
Cara Thomas shined for the Tigers as she tallied a team-high 26 points, while Natalie Conner added 16 points including four three-pointers.
Thomas also became the girls’ all-time leading scorer at Northwestern, passing Paige Sevrain. Her total stands at 1,279 points and counting.
Julia Vargo led the Green Knights with 20 points.

Southern Lehigh used a combined 22-11 score in the middle quarters to pull ahead of Jim Thorpe and held off a final 10-2 run from the Olympians to take home a 32-29 Colonial League win.
The Spartans received contributions on the scoreboard from six different players, including a team-high nine points from Samantha Fontanez.
Brooklyn Yuhas and Ryah Confer both finished with 12 points for the Olympians.

The Tigers, who were paced by Gavin Nelson’s 18 points and Eli Zimmerman’s 12, took a controlling 41-15 lead at halftime.
The win allowed Northwestern to clinch a district playoff berth.
