Franklin Twp. to run under same leadership
Franklin Township will operate under the same governance in 2025.
Fred Kemmerer Jr. was reappointed board chairman, and Robin Cressley vice chairman during the board of supervisors reorganization meeting on Monday.
Supervisor Leroy Kemmerer Jr., who is the third supervisor, was absent.

• Granted permission to the board of supervisors and the secretary-treasurer for payment of bills by due dates to avoid late fees.
• Agreed to retain all present employees including employees in union contracts.
• Set the wages of nonunion and nonuniformed employees, full-time and part-time, 3% increase.
• Set the travel allowance (IRS standard business mileage for 2025 is 70 cents per mile).
• Rate for cinders at $25 per bucket load.
• Daily fees for storage at $40 per day.
• Approved the Pohopoco Rod and Gun Club’s 2025 monthly meeting dates to be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 17, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, and Dec. 17.
• Approved the letter of request from the Lehighton Men’s Softball League to use Bunker Hill Ballfield for the 2025 season from April through September.
• Ratified the agreement between the township and the Teamsters Local 773 representing the road/garbage crew employees for the time period of Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2028.
• Buckno, Lisicky & Co., PC-CPA, in place of the elected auditors to examine all township accounts for 2024.
• Adopted a resolution use of escalator clause for all bituminous materials and petroleum product purchase contracts either bid or entered into from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025.
• Adopted a resolution approving operational support activities for participating members of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company for the year 2025.
• Approved the township’s per capita tax exoneration lists from Sara Keiser, tax collector, for the year 2024.
