State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating the of a 24-year-old woman.

Police said at 2:30 p.m. Monday, the Schuylkill Haven Police Department was notified of a non-attended death at 20 Parkway Avenue in that borough. Police said the family of the resident at that location requested a friend to conduct a welfare check on the woman living there and upon his arrival he observed the woman to be non-responsive and dialed 911.

Borough police arrived shortly thereafter and found the woman to be deceased in her residence.

Police said the residence was in disarray and the victim was located on the stairwell.

The Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office was dispatched and arrived on scene. Police said the coroner estimated the victim had been deceased for approximately 48 hours.

Police said a Troop L Major Case Team was activated to investigate the death. They said multiple interviews were conducted and search warrants obtained as officers continue to investigate this incident.

Police said the coroner’s office will be conducting an autopsy on the victim will not be released due to the ongoing investigation, police said.
