Schuylkill County Court sentencing
Michael Miller, 70, of Denver, Pa., was sentenced by Judge Christina E. Hale to 2-4 years in jail on a variety of sex crimes that occurred with a person under 16 years of age on July 21, 2022, in Pottsville. Miller was sentenced to 2-4 years on a charge of unlawful contact with minors-sexual offenses, a first-degree felony. He was also sentenced concurrently to 3-12 months on a charge of corruption of minors, 1-12 months on another count of corruption of minors and 9-18 months on a charge of criminal use of a communication facility. Miller was ruled a Tier II sexual offender, so he must register semiannually for the next 25 years to update personal information.
William Nicholas Dougherty, 48, of McAdoo, was sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman to 1-3 years in jail on charges of retail theft and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked. Dougherty was sentenced to 3-12 months on a charge of retail theft lodged by Rush Township police for an offense on Dec. 23, 2020. He was also sentenced to 6-12 months on the vehicle charge made by state police at Frackville. And he was sentenced to 3-11 months on a retail theft charge leveled by St. Clair police. He was also ordered to pay $548 in restitution to Walmart on that charge, and a total of $3,580 on all three charges.
Gavyn Datchko, 22, of Delano Township, was sentenced by Judge Charles J. Miller to 10-46 months on charges made by state police at Frackville. Datchko was sentenced to 9-23 months on a charge of disruption of service, and 1-23 months on a charge of flight to avoid apprehension. He was also ordered to pay $400.
Shawn M. Tobin, 56, of Middleport, was sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman to 6-23 months on charges of evading arrest and resisting arrest leveled by state police at Schuylkill Haven for an offense on Nov. 22, 2023. He was sentenced to 3-12 months on a charge of evading arrest, and 3-11 months on a charge of resisting arrest. He was also ordered to pay a $65 monthly supervision fee while serving non-confinement supervision, and another $150.
Blaine Arner, 63, of Tamaqua, was sentenced by Judge Christopher W. Hobbs to 4-8 years in a state correctional institution on a charge possession of firearm prohibited leveled by West Penn Township police for an incident on March 13, 2024. In addition to a $65 monthly supervision fee while serving non-confinement supervision, Arner was ordered to pay another $400.
Matthew Martin, 37, of Tamaqua, had his parole revoked by Judge Christopher W. Hobbs for a charge of driving under the influence-highest rate of alcohol charged by West Penn Township police. Hobbs ordered Martin serve the balance of his sentence, the maximum date of which extends to Dec. 4, 2028.
Cristofer Felix Mateo-Duban, 29, of Hazleton, was sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman to 4-10 years in prison on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance leveled by state police at Frackville. Charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were merged into the first charge. He was also ordered to pay fines of $200 for a charge of driving without a license, $75 for driving an unregistered vehicle and $25 for a charge of operating a vehicle without valid inspection. The defendant was also ordered to pay $613.
