State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:25 p.m. Dec. 20 on Route 873 in Washington Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Angel Rodriguez-Martinez, 18, of Slatington, driving a 2015 Jeep Compass, failed to stop for a vehicle in front of hers, a 2018 Chevrolet Trax operated by Leanne Leavens, 47, of Palmerton, and struck it in the rear.

The roads, police said, were slightly snow covered at the time. The Trax had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was hurt when an SUV struck a deer at 8:03 p.m. Dec. 16 on Cherryville Road, Allen Township.

Police said Chanel N. McKinney, 39, of Walnutport, was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition northbound when the deer entered the roadway and was hit, after which the vehicle struck a utility pole. It was towed from the scene.

Police said McKinney and a 5-year-old boy who was on a booster seat escaped injuries.

• Tracy T. Carlton, 65, of Slatington, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 1:43 p.m. Oct. 16 on Saegersville Road, Heidelberg Township. She did not require an emergency transport from the scene.

The crash occurred when Patricia A. Fritz, 79, of Slatington, was driving a 2009 Mazda southbound and negotiating a right turn in the road. Police said the car crossed over the double lines and hit a 2022 Jeep Compass driven by Carlton.

Fritz, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, police said.

Passengers in each car were also uninjured.

• Police released this week the details of a five-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:39 p.m. Sept. 29 on Route 873 in Washington Township, resulting in the injury of three motorcyclists.

They said Connor P. Sweeney, 25, and Corey J. Rapchak, 25, both of Allentown, and Gannon K. Venable, 28, of Mertztown, had injuries of unknown severity and were transported by emergency services personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Marianna V. Christ, 80, of Kunkletown, driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue southbound, attempted to negotiate a left turn into the Slatington Marketplace without clearance, striking three Harley-Davidson motorcycles driven by the men, who were all northbound at the time.

Police said debris from the collision then hit a 2011 Nissan Rogue that was parked nearby.

The 2017 Rogue and tree motorcycles were all removed from the scene by a towing service.

Christ was cited after the crash, police said.
