Monroe nursing home sale moves forward

The sale of Pleasant Valley Manor is moving to the next step.

The county is in the process of selling the nursing home, which is operated by Monroe County in Stroudsburg, to Outcome Healthcare.

Robert Gress, the chief clerk of the commissioners, said the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas approved the sale at a hearing on Monday.

“A final transfer/closing date is now being scheduled for January 2025 as there are assorted processes that must be followed to complete the transfer,” he said.

The actual sales figure is being finalized, because there are fees and costs that the county has to contribute toward the final sale, Gress explained.

During the Monroe County commissioners meeting on Dec. 18, they approved an intergovernmental transfer of $1.7 million to Pleasant Valley Manor.

Gress said that the transfer of funds is from the county to PVM in order to cover costs now that fall under the Medicaid program.

This amount will then be used by the county to obtain the Medicaid funds from the federal government.
