State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Waylin Leonard Abreu, 21, of Mahanoy City, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 7:19 p.m. Dec. 20 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma southbound when it drove through a patch of ice and snow on the roadway, left the left side of the road and struck a tree and an embankment. The vehicle sustained disabling damage, police said.
• A 17-year-old boy from Barnesville was cited after a one-vehicle mishap at 12:38 p.m. Dec. 22 on Fairview Street in Rush Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2011 Toyota Tacoma westbound when he lost control of it due to snow that had drifted on n the north side of the lane. The truck left the travel lane, crossed the eastbound land and struck a utility pole on the south side of the road.
The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:40 p.m. Dec. 23 on Interstate 81 in Butler Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Justin E. Harris, 32, of Pottsville, was driving a 2013 Ford F550 northbound and its right rear tire dislodged, crossing the median and striking a 2011 Subaru Outback driven by Noah T. Hayes, 19, of Barnesville.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
• Timothy J. Heft, 56, of Lansford, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 10:13 a.m. Dec. 23 on West Water Street (Route 209) in Coaldale. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze eastbound when it traveled into the westbound land for unknown reasons and struck the front left side of a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer operated westbound by Anne P. Murphy, 50, of Coaldale.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
