Frederick W. Manning of Lehighton was named Citizen of the Year by the Mauch Chunk Historical Society.

The proprietor of the Monk Fur Company on West Broadway in Jim Thorpe, Manning has established an enviable record of achievement in a variety of roles, the most recent of which has been the renovation of the Hooven Building on Susquehanna Street, a combination model railroad museum and gift shop complex.

Manning has a long history of civic involvement in the community, including being a member and past president of the board of directors of the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, and a member of the Carbon County Housing Authority.
