December 24, 2016 — Lehighton’s Lauren Marks is named the Times News Field Hockey Player of the Year. Marks, a junior, finishes the season with a team-high 22 goals — 15 more than any other player on the Indians’ squad. Her total accounts for 41 percent of all of Lehighton’s goals. Her scoring helped the Indians reach the District 11 championship game and the state playoffs. Among her season highlights are a game-winning overtime goal in the district semifinals against Pen Argyl and the game’s only tally in the opening round of states during a win over Quakertown.
