Local roundup: Results from Dec. 23

The Palmerton and Marian girls basketball teams, along with the Northwestern wrestling squad, all posted wins on Monday night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Pleasant Vy.

Palmerton bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 46-14 win over Pleasant Valley in non-league action.

The Bombers were led by Mikayla Pengelly’s 13 points. Hailey Barry and Courtney Connell each scored nine in the win.

Alexia Polazzo hit three treys and paced the Bears with nine points.

Addy Marek led the Fillies with 18 points, while Olivia Serfass followed with 17 and Addy Fritz poured in 15.

Ava Snyder paced the Bulldogs with 12 points, while Avery Miller added 11.

Northwestern cruised to a 56-16 win over Northern Lehigh in Colonial League action.

Trent Croll (139), Colby Townley (145), Vinnie Fugazzotto (172), Luke Fugazzotto (189) and Jackson Bailey (215) all had pins for the Tigers. Chase Sukanick added bonus points with a tech fall at 133 for the winners.

Isaac Jackovitz (285) and Mason Rothrock (160) had pins for the Bulldogs, while Noah Gosart recorded a major decision at 121 pounds.

Blue Mountain swept Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.

Savannah Wilson posted wins in the 200IM and 100 breaststroke for the Raiders, and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay with Audrey Nattress, Ava Jones and Janna Brown.

Vincenzo Valentine won the diving and combined with Brandon Temerantz, Ben Hunsicker and William Behun to win the 400 freestyle relay for the Tamaqua boys.

Tamaqua-Marian

Tamaqua topped Marian, 58-24.

Gavin Edmonds led the Blue Raiders with 23 points while Gavin Shannon and Chance Makovec added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Marian’s Collin Yurkamin had 10 points.
