State police at Frackville - Crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Brian J. Gottshall Jr., 21, of Ringtown, and Paige Brode, 23, of Barnesville, were injured in a crash at 4:38 p.m. Dec. 20 on Interstate 81 in Frailey Township.

Police said they transported by personnel from the Williamstown EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, Pottsville.

Police said the mishap occurred when Gottshall was driving a 2019 Ford Mustang, with Bride as his passenger. The care was southbound when a deer entered the roadway.

Police said Gottshall swerved the vehicle to avoid striking the deer. The car left the roadway and struck a guide rail. It sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Jamie M. Yokavonis, 47, of Forty Fort, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 10:20 a.m. Dec. 21 on the Catawissa Road in Walker Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was southbound in a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic that traveled into the northbound lane and off the roadway, striking an embankment before going back onto the northbound lane, off the road and coming to rest in front of a residence at 860 Catawissa Road.

The Sonic had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a crash at 7:05 p.m. Dec. 20 on Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Ryan Township.

Police said it happened when Amanda G. Allen, 24, of New Holland, was driving a 2023 Ford Escape northbound when she attempted to negotiate a sharp left curve in the roadway and lost control of it. The car traveled onto the north shoulder and struck a tree. It was towed from the scene.

Police said Allen was cited for failure to driver at a safe speed.

• Anthony M. Coccio, 21, of Tamaqua, was uninjured when a car he was driving struck a deer at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 19 on Route 309 (Claremont Avenue) in Rush Township (Hometown).

Police said he was driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza southbound when the deer entered his lane of travel and was struck. The car was towed from the scene, police said.
