Carbon raises recording fees

It will cost a little bit more to record deeds and mortgages in Carbon County in 2025.

Last week, the board of commissioners voted to advertise a new affordable housing funds ordinance to help enhance the county’s local affordable housing efforts.

According to the solicitor Robert Frycklund, the recording fees for deeds and mortgages will increase from $94.75 to $101.75 for the first four pages and $4 per page for each additional page.

According to the proposed ordinance, the fees charged by the recorder of deeds will help raise funds for various affordable housing efforts in the county.

The newly raised funds will allow the county help with any program or project that aims to increase “the availability of quality housing to any county resident whose annual income is less than the median income of the county of Carbon.”

The ordinance, if officially adopted, will take effect on Feb. 1.
