An 81-year-old woman from Catasauqua died in a house fire Thursday morning.
Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said the woman, who was located in the living room of the home, has been identified, however, the coroner is withholding her name until an autopsy conducted today at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center to determine the cause and manner of her death is completed.
“Jane Doe” was pronounced dead at 11:15 in the home located in the 600 block of Walnut Street in Catasauqua.
In a statement, the coroner said, “The loss of a loved one, especially one recovered from a house fire, is sudden and unexpected, particularly so close to the Christmas holiday season. As anyone can imagine, Jane Doe’s family is overwhelmed with emotion and grief and deserves a private time of mourning. My deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends and the entire Catasauqua community.”
In addition to the coroner’s office, the Catasauqua Fire Department, Catasauqua Police Department and the fire marshal of the Pennsylvania State Police, Bethlehem barracks, are investigating the fire.
