Nesquehoning’s budget contains no tax increase

Nesquehoning residents will not see a bigger tax bill in their borough taxes in 2025.

On Wednesday, borough council officially adopted next year’s budget, which remains 20.8 mills. One mill brings in approximately $63,000 for municipalities.

“Everyone did wonderful this year,” Councilwoman Lois Kuba said, commending borough secretary/treasurer Deborah DelFranco for keeping a close watch on spending. “We kept the finances exactly where we projected them to be.”

The millage breakdown now includes 17.5 for general fund, 0.35 for parks and recreation; 1.85 for fire protection; and 1.1 for street lighting.

This action was the same as what was proposed by council in November.

In other matters, council agreed that they have to keep a close watch on CD rates since the current ones are maturing.
