St. Peter’s West Penn

The worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township is at 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by Sunday school at 10:15 a.m.; a Blue Christmas service at 2 p.m., and a Girl Scouts meeting at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Christmas Eve services with the sacrament of Holy Communion will be held at 2 and 7 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

There will be a regular Sunday school and morning worship schedule on Sunday at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Pastor Kim will provide special music and the message of the “Hope of the Christ of Christmas.” At 6:30 p.m., there will be the annual candlelight Christmas service with Mrs. Allie Wommer providing music.

There will be no prayer meetings over the next two weeks to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s weeks.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

All are welcome to the candlelight Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. Communion will be included.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Area Senior Citizens met on Dec. 12 with 30 members present and President Jean Machamer opening the meeting.

The invocation, “Let Us Celebrate,” was read, and the secretary and treasurer reports stand as read.

A Christmas package was chanced off and won by a member, and Machamer chanced off money wallets and gift cards.

Every member received a Christmas gift and refreshments were served.

Next week will be brown bag until March 2025. The meeting closed by two members. Bingo and cards were played.

One member gave a donation to the club.

The next meeting will be Dec. 19.
