Police: Man charged after screaming from rooftop

A Lansford man faces multiple charges after police responded to a complaint of him screaming on a rooftop early Sunday morning.

Joshua Bregenzer, 35, of West Ridge Street, was charged with resisting arrest, loitering and prowling, disorderly conduct and obstruction of law, and lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, in lieu of $10,000 bail.

According to court papers, Lansford police were dispatched to 441 W. Patterson Ave. for a man screaming from a rooftop.

Upon arrival, police learned that a man, identified as Bregenzer, did not live at the address, and he had a pair of scissors in his hand as he continued to scream, court papers said.

Summit Hill police responded to assist. Bregenzer refused to come down off the roof, despite verbal commands, and went to a rear window and shattered the glass with his hands, court papers said.

Bregenzer continued to refuse to comply with police and screamed profanities, and while police talked to a resident of the building, Bregenzer jumped off the roof into the rear of the property, court papers said.

He ran toward 441½ W. Patterson, and attempted to kick in the door of the residence, when Summit Hill police were able to secure him on the ground, court papers said.

Bregenzer continued to move around and officers had to use force to secure him in mechanical restraints, as he continued to resist, court papers said. After multiple failed attempts, police secured him.

While in the Lansford patrol vehicle, Bregenzer began to spit throughout the vehicle and attempted to kick out the window by striking the window bars with his feet, court papers said.
