Two people were transported by personnel from the Penn-Mahoning Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, after a crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, state police at the Pocono barracks said.

Police said Gary G. Rusnak, 63, and Elaine M. Rusnak, 56, both of Roaring Brook, had possible injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 10 at mile marker 71.8 in East Penn Township.

Jafarbek Sharifov, 32, of Brooklyn, New York, was driving a 2021 Freightliner north when he changed lanes and struck a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Gary Rusnak, forcing the vehicle into the concrete barrier on the left side of the road, police said.

The Sierra had to be towed from the scene.

Police said Sharifov was cited after the crash.
