State police at Stroudsburg - crashes
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:58 p.m. Dec. 7 on Interstate 80 in East Stroudsburg.
Police said the crash occurred when Jose A. Jimenez Jr., 37, of Freemansburg, driving a 2015 Buick Encore west on the interstate, used the on-ramp from Exit 308 and “rear-ended” a 2017 Ford operated by Shania A. Schlosser, 25, of Bangor, who was stopped on the ramp.
Police said the Encore had to be towed from the scene, while the Ford sustained minor non-disabling damage.
Jimenez was cited for following too closely, police said.
In addition to both drivers, a passenger with Schosser, Gary D. Klak, 26, of Effort, was also uninjured.
• Sharon M. White, 57, of Tannersville, was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle crash at 5:55 p.m., Dec. 5 on Route 611 in Hamilton Township. No injuries were reported.
Police said White was driving a 2016 Honda CRV that struck a 2022 Nissan Frontier operated by Alfredo Russo Jr., 35, of Bartonsville, who had slowed down due to a high volume of traffic.
The Honda sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the Nissan had damage but could be driven, police said.
• Leroy Blount, 75, of Tobyhanna, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:49 p.m. Dec. 5 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Hyundai Elantra northbound when he began to fall asleep and lost control of the car, which hit the guide rail off the west side of the road.
The car had to be towed from the scene, police said.
• Brooke L. Figueroa, 30, of Kunkletown, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 11:25 a.m. Dec. 3 on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township. No injuries were reported.
Police said she was eastbound in a 2017 Kia Forte when she drove over an uneven portion of the highway and a tire was punctured, causing her to lose control of the car. It went off the left side of the road, hit a guide rail and went back onto the highway, where it crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Kenworth vehicle driven by Michael J. Palermo, 73, of Scranton, police said.
The Forte had to be towed from the scene.
Police said the license plate on the Forte was reported to have been stolen, resulting in additional charges against Figueroa.
