State police at Bethlehem
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:
• Kyle Ackerman, 39, of Heidelberg Township, was cited for disorderly conduct after police were called to a burn ban violation at 12:02 a.m. Dec. 7 at 5146 Heidelberg Heights Road in the township.
Police said he violated a countywide burn ban in effect at the time.
• A 46-year-old man from Slatington was cited after police were called to assist the Friedens Fire Company with a situation in which the man was not complying with an active burn ban.
The incident occurred at 3:07 p.m. Nov. 17 along Shady Nook Road in Washington Township.
Police said upon arrival they observed an approximately 6-foot in diameter pile of cans, plastics and garbage products. They said the pile was adjacent to dry leaves and the wood line and there was no guard or containment in place surrounding the burn pile if it were to spread.
The man cited was the homeowner, police said.
• Wendy’s in Schnecksville will receive a citation from police for “false alarms/dialing devices” after police were called for a false alarm at 5:58 p.m. Dec. 8.
A restaurant staff member activated a panic alarm that was deemed to be false. Police said it was the fourth time in the past 12 months they were called to the restaurant.
• Police were called at 5:43 p.m. Dec. 4 to the Sunoco service station at 6095 Route 100, Heidelberg Township.
The owner, a 56-year-old New Tripoli man, reported that an employee took $1,000 out of the cash register.
• Police said a 79-year-old man from Slatedale was duped in a phone scam and had $200 stolen from him.
They were called to a property on Main Street, Washington Township, at 4:13 p.m. Dec. 6 when the theft was reported.
Police said the man was told by an unknown caller that his bank account had been compromised and the only way he could regain access to it was to purchase several gift cards and recite the activation information on them.
Police said the man fell for the scam and purchased $200 worth of eBay prepaid gift cards.
