December 14, 1950 — Roy Gover’s bucket with under 10 seconds to play completes a Mauch Chunk comeback and lifts the Bruins to a 43-42 victory over Lehighton. The Indians use a 15-3 third quarter to take a nine-point lead into the final frame, but Ossie Maehrer’s club outscores Lehighton by an 18-8 margin the rest of the way to pull out the win. Kenny “Decker” Searfoss comes up with a steal and gets the ball to Gover, who makes the go-ahead and eventual game-winning shot. Lowell “Zeke” Swartz leads Chunk with a game-high 20 points, while Gene Acker chips in with eight. Lehighton receives a team-high 15 points from Charlie Straup.
