State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Police said a woman who was “doing her makeup” while her car was in a “self-driving mode” was injured in a crash at 8 a.m. on Dec. 6 on Interstate 81 in Foster Township.
Jassiell Smith, 26, of Hazleton, was driving southbound in a 2025 Honda Civic when she lost control of her car after it went onto the shoulder of the road, police said.
The car then hit a tree and was heavily damaged, requiring it to be towed from the scene.
Police said Smith was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries by Minersville EMS.
She was cited after the crash, according to police.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:46 p.m. on Dec. 2 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Karl T. Greeburgh, 39, of Berwick, was driving a 2005 Mercury Sable northbound.
The car left the east shoulder of the interstate, hit a guide rail and spun around and reentered the highway, where it was struck by a 2024 Freightliner driven by Mahat M. Amud, 36, of Richfield, Minnesota, police said.
A third impact occurred when the Sable went off the east shoulder and struck a concrete bridge rail.
Police said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Greenburgh was cited for driving while his operating privilege is suspended or revoked, police said.
• Vincent A. Pecora, 37, of Wilkes-Barre, was uninjured when the 2018 Toyota RAV4 he was driving struck a deer on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.
At 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 2, Pecora was northbound when the deer entered his lane of travel from the wooded median, police said.
The RAV4 had to be towed from the scene.
