State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Police were called to a hit-and-run crash at 6:16 p.m. Nov. 27 at the intersection of Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and Lynnwood Street in Rush Township (Hometown).
Police said a vehicle traveling west on Lynnwood Street entered Claremont Avenue without clearance and struck a 2025 Subaru Outback driven by Brianna L. Kalbarczyk, 31, of Tamaqua, before fleeing the scene.
Police said the Outback had minor damage and Kalbarczyk was uninjured in the crash.
• Gabriel J. Sladek, 20, of Mahanoy City, was uninjured on a one-vehicle crash at 8:31 a.m. Nov. 22 on the Brockton Mountain Road, Ryan Township.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier southbound in snowy conditions when it slid off the road and struck an embankment, tipping onto its driver side.
The pickup had to be towed from the scene.
• Michael C. Blanco, 45, of Shenandoah, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 9:50 p.m. Nov. 17 on Route 61 in Blythe Township.
Police said he was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound when he lost control while negotiating a right curve. The vehicle struck a concrete barrier on the right side of the road. It had to be towed from the scene.
Police said Blanco had possible injuries but did not require a medical transport.
• Police said a box truck hit an overhead clearance restriction bar on Cass Township Route 4007 at 5:52 p.m. Nov. 30.
They said the driver of the 2021 GMC rental truck that is listed as 10½ feet high attempted to enter a drive-thru lane and made contact with the bar.
Both the truck and bar had minor damage.
Police did not identify the driver, who they said declined medical attention at the scene.
• The driver of a 2008 Buick Lucerne that was involved in an crash at 1:18 p.m. Nov. 30 is facing criminal charges, police said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of East Oak and South Line streets in West Mahanoy Township, after which police learned the driver’s license is suspended due to a driving under the influence offense.
