Palmerton holds annual Christmas event

Palmerton held its 12th annual tree lighting in the park on Saturday.

There was 154 trees, sponsored by The Holiday Lighting Committee.

The invocation was presented by the Palmerton United Veterans Organization Color Guard, followed by remarks from Palmerton Mayor Don Herrmann. The Towamensing Elementary School Chorus and S.S. Palmer Elementary School Chorus performed.

Santa arrived at 1 p.m., and the Christmas lights were lit at 4:45 p.m.

Food and toy donations were taken by CACPAC for toys and CACPAC Food Pantry for local families.

The Harry family gathered in front of their sponsored tree in memory of Anita Harry. Anita was a volunteer in the Palmerton Community for more than 50 years. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Palmerton Concourse Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Palmerton Band Restoration Committee and Palmerton Historical Society, to name a few.
