Carbon County Environmental Education Center announces that the Christmas Crafts and Soap Making programs have been canceled. In their place the center will offer a Winter Solstice Walk at 6 p.m. on Dec. 21.
This is a quiet, self-guided walk to the center’s bird blind and back, following a trail of luminarias that light the way on the longest night of the year. There will be a few stops along the way to listen for owl calls, with cocoa and cookies afterward.
The evening is free for everyone, with no registration required.
In addition, the center will hold the following events:
• Nature Club for students in grades K through 6 meets Sunday at 1 p.m.
• Creepy Crawlers for children ages 2 to 4 meets Dec. 16, at 10 a.m.
Please preregister by phone for children’s programs at 570-645-8597. Programs with low on no pre-registrants may be canceled.
Weather may also impact the programs, and only those who’ve preregistered can be notified of schedule changes.
CCEEC is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, along the Lentz Trail.
