An Allentown pair face charges after purchasing more than $6,000 in merchandise fraudulently from Lowe’s in Mahoning Township in October.
Luis Bueno, 25, and Berenice Lantigua, 27, were charged with forgery, retail theft, access device issued to another and multiple charges of conspiracy.
Both were lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning lieu of $50,000 bail each.
According to court papers, the pair entered the store with a flooring sample and completed a transaction for $6,363 using the account Future Homes-Lehighton, PA.
They left the store with the merchandise and two entry rugs, which had not been purchased, and Lowe’s Asset Protection later learned Future Homes had not authorized the transaction, court papers said.
The pair has attempted similar activity at other Lowe’s stores since August, and appeared to be acting in tandem to commit the thefts, court papers said.
The Lowe’s fraud team has developed information on 22 incidents involving the pair.
