Coroner names man fatally shot in Lehigh

The Lehigh County coroner has released the name of the Palmerton man who was fatally shot outside a store in Whitehall Township over the weekend.

According to Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, Hector Manuel Garcia Gomez, 46, was pronounced dead at 7:43 p.m. Saturday in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, after he was brought in for multiple gunshot wounds.

An autopsy was completed Monday and Buglio determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the torso and has ruled manner of death as homicide.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:05 p.m. in the parking lot area of 1155 MacArthur Road, Whitehall Township, the coroner said.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the incident is being investigated by the Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

As of now, no charges have been filed in the case.
